Barcelona need Iniesta improvement to win the big prizes

Barcelona need Iniesta improvement to win the big prizes
The Spain midfielder has looked closer to his brilliant best over the last two matches and his return to form is a timely boost as the Catalans chase trophies on three fronts
Last season, he was Barcelona's best player. This term, however, he has been a shadow of his former self. So, Andres Iniesta's improvement over the last couple of games represents a timely boost ahead of the Blaugrana's biggest tests. Finally, the midfielder looks to be back on board - just when they need him most.
It has taken a while. Iniesta initially struggled to make his mark under Gerardo Martino and found himself in an unusual position: out of the team and out of the limelight, the Spain star has had to play second fiddle to both Neymar and Cesc Fabregas in the early stages of the current campaign.
Fabregas' fine form has been one of the big plus points from Barca's season so far. The former Arsenal captain has played his finest football as a Barcelona player under Martino and he has been rewarded with an extended run in the side. Neymar, meanwhile, has restricted Andres' appearances further forward, on the left flank, where he was often picked under Pep Guardiola and Tito Vilanova in order to accommodate another midfielder.

Woman whose children died in Iyabo Obasanjo's car writes her an open letter

Dr Bisola Clark, wife of Chief E. K Clarke whose two children, Adeife(10) and AKinola (14) were killed in Iyabo Obasanjo's convoy on the 20th of April 2003 has sent an open letter addressed to the Obasanjos expressing her distaste in the manner they handled the death of her children.

Mrs Clarke, who wasn't married to the elder-statesman when the incident happened, said she saw the need to speak up after Iyabo said in her open letter to her dad that the death of the children was what spurred her to pursue political appointments.
In the open letter, Mrs Clarke said none of the Obasanjo's have been there for her emotionally since the sad day she lost her two children in assassination attempt on Iyabo Obasanjo's life.
Iyabo has since responded to her former friend's letter. See excerpts from the letter sent to Vanguard and Iyabo's response after the cut...

Tennis and swimming told to boost numbers or lose funding

Wimbledon

Tennis, swimming, squash, fencing, basketball and table tennis have all been granted funds to increase levels of participation.
However, some of the money has been held back from the governing bodies of tennis, basketball and squash.
Funding will be provided directly to programmes at grassroots level.
"There are tough messages here for national governing bodies," said Sport England chief executive Jennie Price.
"If they don't grow participation, we will reduce their funding and we won't make long-term investments until we have confidence in their ability to deliver."
This is how the six sports were affected by Sport England's measures:

The Belgian forward was in scintillating form as he netted his first treble in English football, taking advantage of slips by Arsenal and Manchester City to put his side first

Eden Hazard scored his hat-trick in English football as Chelsea moved to the top of the Premier League with a comfortable 3-0 win over Newcastle on Saturday.

Jose Mourinho's men took advantage of Arsenal's 5-1 drubbing at the hands of Liverpool and Manchester City's goalless draw with Norwich City to leapfrog their title rivals.

Hazard was the hero, the 23-year-old producing a virtuoso performance and taking his goal tally for the season to 14 with an impressive treble. The Belgian opened the scoring midway through the first half with an emphatic finish and his second quickly followed as he rounded off a superb Chelsea breakaway after 34 minutes.
