Presidential election: Buhari wins Sokoto


With two more local government results to be declared, President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressive Party, APC, has won the presidential election held Weekend in Sokoto state , having won in 17 local government areas.

From the 21 local government results so far declared as at 4pm, President Buhari has garnered 445,275 votes to that of his closest rival, Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, who garnered 328,
411 votes.

The Sokoto State Collation Officer for Presidential election, Prof. Muhammed Yahuza of the Bayero University Kano,, who presided over the collation , announced the adjournment for the two remaining local government results before the result will be taken to INEC office in Abuja for announcement.

In related development, the senator representing Sokoto North Senatorial district, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, was declared winner yesterday by the Returning officer , Prof. Aminu Mohammed .

The chairman of the Northern Senators and coordinator, Northwest Presidential campaign council, won in five of the eight local government areas in the senatorial district.
