Okey Emordi, Kano Pillar FC coach sacked!

The Head coach of Kano Pillar football club has been sacked by the club's management. A statement made available by the club's spokesman Idris Malikawa today, says the newly constituted Pillars Football board headed by Kabiru Baita approved Emordi’s dismissal.

Mr Emordi was dropped following what the club described as a "string of poor results" under him. Only recently, he led his team mates to a 3-3 draw against Lobi Stars in Makurdi. Pillars are ninth on the table with 27 points, nine points behind leaders Sunshine Stars and Enyimba.

Olamide Romances Telecom Giant Again

Popular Nigerian musician, Olamide, has renewed his contract with telecommunications giant, Etisalat.
By so doing, the ‘Turn Up’ crooner has joined the likes of Don Jazzy, Davido and Sound Sultan who got their contracts, though with a sister company, renewed.
The signing of the dotted lines was witnessed by Olamide’s manager, Alexander Okeke.
The 26-year-old rapper shared the good news on his Instagram page where he also expressed his gratitude to the telecoms company for believing in him.
This is not the first time Olamide will be having a relationship with Etisalat. Olamide became Etisalat’s brand ambassador alongside Chocolate City rapper, Ice Prince, in 2013 when he signed a two-year contract with the organisation.

Buhari says the US and others will assist Nigeria recover stolen funds

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday said his administration had received firm assurance from the United States and other countries recover and return funds stolen from Nigeria.

 

According to a statement by the President's Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the President said it was now up to Nigeria to provide the international community with the facts and figures needed to drive the recovery effort.

Hoodlums attack community in Ajah, injure 3 over land

3 people sustained injuries after some hoodlums attacked Alabeko community in the Ajah area of Lagos State. During the attack, some buildings in the community were reportedly damaged.

Residents said the group, suspected to be members of the Oodua People’s Congress, wielded weapons such as cutlasses, knives and sticks.
 

They were said to have been aided by policemen from Mopol 20, Ikeja, Lagos.

A resident said trouble started on Saturday shortly after a meeting between some indigenes and residents.

Unknown gunmen on Monday June 22 shot dead the Lagos state Coordinator of The Lord’s Chosen Charis-matic Revival Ministries, Pastor Chukwuemeka Okpokpo, at Apple Junction, Amuwo Odofin area of the state.

According to a report by Vanguard, the gunmen, in a motorcycle, trailed the pastor from a bank where he had gone to withdraw N3million for the church, fired shots into the air, which sent people scampering for safety.

Governor Ambode declares second Lekki-Epe Expressway toll-free

Lagos state governor Akinwunmi Ambode says residents of the state who live in the Lekki axis will no longer pay tolls at the second toll point on the Lekki- Epe Expressway. The governor made this remark at an interactive session with journalists at the Banquet Hall of the Lagos House, Ikeja yesterday.

The governor, in the statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Habib Aruna, said his concern was ensuring the completion of the road.
