FG bans the use of phones in Nigerian prisons

Following the recent jailbreak attempt in some Nigerian prisons in recent times, the Federal govt today banned the use of phones by both prisoners and prison officials within the prison premises.

The ban was pronounced by Minister of Interior Affairs, Abba Moro while speaking with some senior prison officials in Abuja.

Photos: Suspected suicide bomber burnt alive by mob in Gombe

A suspected male suicide bomber who was allegedly dressed with a bomb hidden under his cloth was apprehended and burnt alive some few minutes after 1pm this afternoon at the Gombe Line Park in Gombe state. Residents of the area said the man was preparing to blow himself up when he was spotted. The mob refused to hand him over to the police and immediately set him on fire. Nigeria's Ambassador to UN loses husband

Prof. Joy Ogwu is Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the UN. Her husband, Dr Aloysius Ogwu has passed on.

A statement issued by the Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the UN, New York, on Thursday said he died on Monday in New York, aged 77. He was a surgeon and retired as Chief Consultant Surgeon at the Military Hospital, Ikoyi, Lagos.

He is survived by his wife; Joy, five children, grand-children, sisters and brothers.

Woman who allegedly transformed from a bird dies in hospital

The woman who eyewitnesses claim fell from tension wire while flying as a bird and turned into this woman pictured above at Cappa B-stop, Oshodi on Friday Oct. 10th (read here), has died in hospital.
